We don’t have to move to Canada, if you don’t like what happens to the country in the next two years, we can vote ourselves a new Congress and a whole bunch of new Senators. We can even replace the president in four years.
All those Americans that move to Canada will slink back across the border after 6 weeks when they find out the cost of beer and wine here, that they can not get a Family Doctor, the taxes are higher here, and the tax cuts less
Sure hope this is not a yuuge mistake like the eight years of Bush disaster. The optimistic view is that Trump may wind down the foreign campaigns and spend the money at home. Trump’s biggest problems may be how to meet the huuge expectations the voters have placed in him. The wall will have to be posponed indefinately; Mexico was never going to pay for it anyway; bringing back off-shore companies and production is easier said than done; renegotiating trade deals is easier said than done. But then trade deals and trade pacts are necessary for an exporting country. There will be many unfullfilled promises and then disillusion will set in.
Actually neither candidate has gotten a majority of the popular vote this far. And Hillary has recorded more popular votes than Trump has. Another example of how the system thwarts the will of the people.
But back in 2008 and again in 2012 when Barack Hussein Obama won with over 51% of the popular vote, somehow to you and your ilk, that was illegitimate.
Survived Nixon, Reagan, and two Bushes. After this one flames out, there’ll be even more rebuilding of the slow, slow gains that will be quickly wiped out. That’s life. Here’s my philosophy:
I don’t know if you have reviewed the latest vote counts, but it looks like the majority voted for Hillary Clinton. The electoral college needs to be eliminated. Why should voters in Montana and Wyoming have more influence than New York, California, etc.?
YOU claimed that the guy on the left is not speaking for the majority, when the current counts are saying YES he is. Maybe you should have waited before posting anything about majorities if you can’t handle a simple observation.
.
The bigger scandal in Gore v Bush was Jeb Bush removing legal voters from the rolls in Florida by using felon lists from Texas and anyone whose name was similar (James Smith, Jim M. Smith removed because of felon Jimmy T. Smith). See Florida Central Voter File
T’ain’t a majority, just a majority in states that have many electoral votes. IT didn’t win the majority vote but it doesn’t matter in the mechanics of our electoral process.
“The US Elections Project estimates that 128.8 million Americans cast a ballot in 2016, out of 231 million eligible voters — a turnout rate of 55.6 percent.”
.
So another 102.2 million people decided to not vote for Hillary as well.
Sure, they also decided to not vote for Donald, but I’m just addressing the pretense that a majority voted for Hillary.
.
Not through yet.
Several million more opted to not register to vote at all. They also opted to not vote for Hillary (or Donald, but I’m still just addressing the pretense that a majority voted for Hillary).
