popular as ever Gunther and Luann are I presume

Looks like not only the dress but Luann got an “A” too.

Can’t help but notice the change in Gunther’s countenance when he tells Luann that three OTHER guys were interested in her. Hmm….

Perhaps something worth noting here is Luann’s promise to wear the dress in the “unlikely event” that she and Gunther get hitched…

Gunther? You got an “A” for the dress, but You get an “F” for spilling Your guts about guys being interested in Her.

So all the naysayers on the dress project are wrong. On Gunther and Luann its great but remember they are friends anyway. I think it is probably misapplied to keep hoping and supposing a romantic relationship between those two.

Now if Gunther had designed a bra for Luann the way Howard Hughes designed one for Jane Russell that would have been an easy A, and a more interesting story line.

But two of the three guys Luann already knows because she sat next to them in Zebo’s freshman art class.

“Which Three Guys,” I wonder …?

If she was modeling a dress couldn’t they have just looked for a ring?

The guys in Gunther’s engineering class can’t be from Zebo’s art class . Gunther is at Moony Uni and Luann’s art class was at Pitts Junior College. Unless Jock and Emo are moonlighting at both schools.

(The following is hyperbole, to bring out a very comical, enjoyable nuance, in today’s strip, from the “timeless comic strip character” point of view of a girl named Luann:)

(Gunther:) The dress was noted for its tectonic balance synergy, thereby enhancing structural principles designed to abdicate the synthetic cohesion of the molecular bonding agents which facilitate the monochromatic properties, adhering to polysorbate 80 and carrigenan-like subparticles, accelerating polydichloridic sul(yada- yada -yada)…..

(Luann, drifting after hearing the “shop talk”:) “Oh….so that’s bad, right?”

(Gunther, realizing, then converting the point into terms she can understand:) “No, it got an A!” (Luann:) “Oh!…so it turned out not so bad?!”… (Gunther:) “…and boys liked you!”"….

(Luann:) "Ohhhh!!!! Okay, so it all turned out really good! "…

c’mon, Greg. You had comic strip gold if you took us into Gunther’s engineering class and we got to watch them get their geek on while Luann tripped all over herself!

I think that you could call this “networking”. Luann has found attention in Gunther’s circle. One contact leads to more contacts. Much more acceptable than writing her phone number on the mens’ room wall.

The bad news is, they’re engineering students. Go check out Dilbert for their expertise in relationships.

I would have given Gunther an A+ for applying Engineering Principles in an original manner.

It is nice taking a semi-step back away from all things “wedding” for a bit (I know… they ARE talking about the bridesmaid dress, but, it still is not as directly “wedding-ee”.)

I am happily surprised that Gunther was able to earn an “A” grade for his sewing of Luann’s dress for his engineering project. To me, though, it still seems a bit odd that it worked…. but that is how it turned out, so ok!

With Gunther and Luann being on the phone… I am wondering if this will be a single day panel of them and the focus will be on others tomorrow, or if we will continue to have Gunther and Luann interacting this week?

IF we have Gunther and Luann interacting more this week, my hope is that we do NOT see Luann focusing extensively on the young men in the engineering class who liked her “look”. I guess what I am saying is that I am hoping this is not a segue into a new “relationship” arc for Luann.

Now, if this does end up being the start of a “relationship” arc for Luann…. I guess the benefit could be that with the young gentlemen being at Moony, it may more easily open up story arcs for Luann as she (presumably) transitions from Pitt Community College to Moony University. I am presuming that Luann may end up finishing up at Pitt CC this year if the timing is real-time and that she likely would end up transferring her credits to Moony U.

There should have been a contest for her dress, too. The one we saw was hideous. I was surprised because Gunther is so good at designing costumes for Luanns’ story times.

And yet another long build-up to something we don’t get to see. Anyway, this proves that Moony U. is a diploma mill that will give an “A” to everybody who shows up and pays their tuition, just as we had suspected when Tiffany’s Dad bought her admission. After all, Gunther spent his first semester in Peru and Des was missing all the while that Bernice wondered who her roommate was, and it made no difference in their academic standing. I hope engineering companies in southern California know better than to hire any Moony U. graduates: “Well, no, I don’t know exactly how to keep a bridge from falling into the river, but my professor assured me it’s a whole lot like sewing a dress, so sure, I can do it!”

It’s nice to learn that Gunther’s dress project got an engineering A. It’s nice, I guess, for Luann to learn that she got the interest of three guys in Gunther’s class.Basically, today is just too nice. We need a problem….

If Gunther were still interested in Luann, he would not share the info that three guys asked about her status. So, that says Gunther isn’t interested in Luann in that way anymore. His childhood infatuation with Luann has passed. So those who are hoping for a Gunther-Luann romance ought to move on – G and L have.

No but YOU are apparently day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day after…….

Three more guys probably asked if Gunther is single.

Forget it already, Lu. It’s an art major for you. Or an educator, too. An engineer will NOT do.

Extending considerations beyond the engineering classic “Stress Analysis of a Strapless Bra” (Seim, 1956) into Structural Compliance (not the sociological variety) of bias-cut fabrics (like chain-link fencing, and sails) – well done! (Of course, the instructor could have simply been relieved that the presentation stayed on course …)

The proof is in the pudding — or in the inquiries of single guys.

We knew him better as Bobby Vee.<<< Bobby Vee got his first big break, when he was brought in to fill in for Buddy Holly on the Winter Dance Party Tour, after the plane crash. I had the pleasure of talking to him, via call-in radio once, nice guy, good sense of humour!

I like the new, confident Gunther, standing straight, one hand in his pocket like those male models, and not stuttering. Greg always drags his feet and never goes out on a limb, but in my mind, Tiffany is good for him and on New Year’s Eve I hope they are together. They both need someone to care for them.

Google definition of engineering:……." the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures". I guess since Gunther used a sewing machine to make the dress, the project counts???

I have to switch to some hard rock stations for a break because those guys barely play Christmas music.
