Just another political elite voting for the the status quo of big government. Party doesn’t matter, keeping power does..Big government means big power for the political elite. They only care about the average person in lip service. Remember “Read my lips. No new taxes.”

Bush senior and I have the same opinion on broccoli. I’ve tried every possible way to eat it and am sure that there is nothing one can do to it to make it fit for human consumption.

But I’m a masochist. I’ll still try a piece every now and then. It still tastes as bad as I always remember it.

Finally Bush joins the points of light which make this country great, instead of trying to extinguish them and drag this country backwards.

And here I thought broccoli was the only subject we could agree on.

George H. W. Bush is a lot like the fathers of people I grew up with. He has a WASPY sense of noblesse oblige that compelled him into politics. This is a small part of his Northeastern-establishment blue-blood background. He tried to escape the long shadow of his father (a US Senator) and his father’s Wall Street crowd by moving to Texas to seek his fortune in oil. The Texas influence is one reason why W was so screwy. He bought the whole Texas ethos hook, line, and sinker. But both father and son sought authenticity in their Texas experience. But the father never left Connecticut, not really. And Connecticut never left him. He used his father’s influence and network to finance his oil business, after all.

The eastern establishment thing used to be a much bigger deal. You had the Social Register and all that stuff. It was usually impossible for an arriviste like Trump to be completely accepted—and money was not always the arbiter.

Here’s an example. Mitt Romney, some say, belongs in the eastern establishment crowd. Rich, powerful father, private equity, and all that. But he would never be accepted entirely by the old guard eastern establishment. Even though Mitt’s father was a governor, the family was (is) Mormon, usually not thought of by the old east coast establishment as completely legitimate. Generally, men of GHWB’s class, culture and era would quietly consider Mormons as not really “our kind of people.” Yet, GWHB would always be gracious to everyone, well mannered, and courteous. That’s the old northeastern establishment’s way. But believe me, Mr. Trump is not their kind of people! He would never be welcome at the Palm Beach Bath & Tennis Club. Though few are.

It looks to me like Trump is a spoiled rich boy from Queens who longs to be accepted by society. He considers his big risk in life as moving from Queens real estate (where his father operated) into Manhattan real estate ( the big time!). Oooo, how brave Donald was to have gone over the Queensboro Bridge. What a guy!

But he craves acceptance. Needs it. It’s part of his sickness, though the old establishment will never, ever, ever see him as anything but a boorish clown.

So that’s Mr. Trump—a man seen for what he is by the old guard. In the case of GHWB, that is entirely in keeping with his background. He loathes people like Trump from the very depth of his soul. Sure, some of supporting Hillary is simple payback for how Trump treated his Jeb. But, even without that, the old man would NEVER support a man like Trump. Ever.

And by the way, I fully understand that my comments about the Eastern upper classes are about a fading world that almost doesn’t exist today. These old class rules do apply to people of GHWB’s age, however. Obviously, today things are much different. Class still exists as a strong force, but the old eastern upper class is a mere shadow of its former self. That said, Mr. Trump should be shunned by US patriots everywhere, of all backgrounds for multiple and obvious reasons.

Daddy vortex: GHW bailed out of his plane in WW II and left his crew to die, hit his head on the wing and got his parachute caught in the tail of the plane. I spoke to his wingman after a “Time” magazine artilce appeared. He stated they liked having George there as he always turned away from any possibly dangerous target, and headed back to the carrier. They liked it because they always had that big yellow stripe up his back to help them find the flight deck upon THEIR return!!
