My mom did a lot of canning. So on weekends the family would go to country to pick apples, pears, peaches, whatever. My parents said we (boys) could eat all the fruit we wanted as long as we filled the lugs.Finally realize it was just a trick to get free labor and get us to eat fresh fruit.
