Take back the mineral estate the railroads got in those perpetual “Railroad Grants”, for every mile of track they’ve pulled or let go bad, and use the money from the oil those “railroads” are now producing to rebuild the system.
Why DO we keep subsidizing the most heavily subsidized “private” industries in the country??????
In order for mass transit to be profitable, it needs to be too expensive for those who need it. Freight rail turns a good profit, but you can’t pack people in shipping containers. Thus subsidies.
