All my dogs have been trained to walk away from their food if a person or another dog tries to take it. I will always reward them for doing so. If another dog eats their food because they walked away from it, I’ll give my dog more food with an extra treat or maybe canned some food with it and a whole lot of praise and affection for doing what he was trained to do and not start a fight over food.

Yup. You have to train a dog to allow you to take their food away from them in case they get hold of something that is bad for them.
