This reminds me of a hashtag featured on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. The writer’s mother texted her to tell her that somebody had died and she ended the text with L.O.L. Her mother thought “L.O.L” meant “Lots of Love”.

I’m old enough I had to bookmark an acronym site to keep up.

Text-speak is a major force in the ongoing degradation of the English language. The future will be some odious mishmash of Spanglish, Ebonics, Text-speak, and nuanced grunts that are all run through a PC filter. Yes, I am proud to be called a Grammar Nazi.And while I’m at it, You kids get off my lawn!

The acronym means exactly what I intend it to mean, nothing more and nothing less. So don’t tell me I am wrong.
