The aging process will do that, like it or not. Pulling up the ladder’s not going to help.

Some of us want Social Security to be strengthened and expanded so that all Americans can have a secure and dignified retirement.

A few quotes by her heirness and what she actually means:

“I don’t want to raise taxes on anybody. I’m certainly against one of Senator Obama’s ideas, which is to lift the cap on the payroll tax, because that would impose additional taxes on people who are educators, police officers, firefighters and the like.”

No American teachers or firefighters make past $118,000 a year. Lift the cap and some of the problems are fixed!

" I am totally committed to making sure Social Security is solvent. You’ve got to begin to reign in the budget, pay as you go, to try to replenish our Social Security Trust Fund. And with all due respect, the last time we had a crisis in Social Security wa 1983. Pres. Reagan and Speaker Tip O’Neill came up with a commission. That was the best and smartest way, because you’ve got to get Republicans and Democrats together. That’s what I will do. And I will say, #1, don’t cut benefits on current beneficiaries they’re already having a hard enough time. And #2, do not impose additional tax burdens on middle-class families."

The Reagan Commission raised taxes and pushed the retirement age up. Another one of these commissions will do the same or worse. Anyone who thinks that Clinton will save S.S. is smoking pot seeds.

Republicans wanted to wank with SS in order to put a wedge between the Boomers and the generations after. Their plan was to include people of my age group while cutting off the ones after, figuring my set would snap at the offer and shaft younger people who’d worked as hard, if not for exactly as long.Don’t need that.Democrats try to make the system work, while the GOP runs around like a rich kid at FAO Schwartz (or perhaps one who just thinks they’re rich). They put forth half-assed plans like “part D,” and who bails them out? The Democrats, working hard to shore up a bill they didn’t want.Meanwhile, the GOP keeps trying to make the whole system break down. Lucky us, if they succeed, we’ll just have multinational corporations dictating our lives, like liberty-loving mavericks prefer.

Just wait until the republicons destroy Social Security to give their 1% friends another tax break and throw grandma and grand pa to the economic wolves.

The cartoon makes no historical sense. .The cartoonist is well paid by the special interests who employ him for this, he need not worry about his retirement.

The Republicans are the ones taking the jackhammers to the foundation, like they’’ve long been doing.
