James 215 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
Congress will hold a moment of silence and then get on with doing nothing, albeit with a self-righteous clear conscience because they thought good thoughts.
Now that the Thoughts and Prayers cupboard is empty, maybe we should see if there’s anything in the Deeds cupboard. Me, I don’t have the answer. I would guess that part of the answer is some changes to the gun laws, but that’s not what’s at the root of the problem. My hunch, for what it’s worth, is that we need to work for a society which includes everyone, a society which gives everyone a fair shot at a good life, a good education, a good job, a good neighborhood, good access to health care, a good retirement, and a feeling that we’re all in this together. A broken society can’t be a polite society, and an impolite society shouldn’t have guns all over the place.
If you are out of thoughts and prayers, you are out of hope and you are out of sympathy. If all you ever could offer is thoughts and prayers you are also out of ideas. It is time to do something about this madness.
If there’s faith, the prayer cupboard doesn’t get empty. Make your peace with the lord & fear no evil. The thought cupboard may be empty, as people seem to vote hate.
Guess Lisa has finally stepped outside the GOP Echo Chamber! This sending “Thoughts & Prayers” BS has become so threadbare, I’m amazed there isn’t an Emoji for it!
