I’ve practised with chopsticks for years, every time I eat anything with rice, until they’ve become second nature. Of course if you do it the proper way, when you want to eat something fiddly like peas you’re supposed to use a bowl and hold it up near your mouth and just use the chopsticks to sweep the food in.

I too am hopeless, even with the training elastic. I will someday travel East Asia with a personal fork.

If you’re in Asia, use chopsticks. If you’re in the States use a knife. fork, and spoon. Most American rice isn’t sticky enough to use chopsticks.
