There are still tons of Republicans/Fox “news” viewers who post here that still believe that OBAMA IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS!

At the start of Obama’s second term there were several Republican elected officials who stated that Obama didn’t come for everyone’s guns because he was just lulling them into a false sense of security and would confiscate them during his second term.

Later, the Republican governor of Texas called out the Texas guard because he thought Obama was going to invade Texas.

And this is really stupid because if you thought the government was going to confiscate something why would you spend money getting more of it for them to take away? Wouldn’t the rational thing to do be to sell whatever it was so you’d at least get some money back rather than having it confiscated and getting nothing?

Hitler wanted guns off the streets and in the hands of the government. How did that work out?

Actually, in real life, Hitler allowed guns to everybody but Jews. Try reading a little history, although I realize propaganda goes down easier.. “The 1938 law signed by Hitler that LaPierre mentions in his book basically does the opposite of what he says it did. “The 1938 revisions completely deregulated the acquisition and transfer of rifles and shotguns, as well as ammunition,” Harcourt wrote. Meanwhile, many more categories of people, including Nazi party members, were exempted from gun ownership regulations altogether, while the legal age of purchase was lowered from 20 to 18, and permit lengths were extended from one year to three years.”

Funny, I never thought “they” were going to take away our guns. And by the way, has anyone defined the term “assault weapon” so that the statistic can be either confirmed or denied? I’ve noticed that most people seem to define “assault weapon” as any gun that “looks” scary.

“And I bet you think being nasty and calling ugly names of fellow Americans that just don’t have the same opinion and thought process as you is a real good idea to help bring everyone to a good solution, right?”

    Ugly names?

    Like:

    Republicans?Fox “news” viewers?Republican elected officials?Governor of Texas?

Let’s see if I’ve got this straight:

Republican elected officials that claim thatOBAMA IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS!

are just fellow Americans who don’t have the same opinion.

But pointing out that they are deliberately lying, and deceiving gullible Americans is being nasty?

And BTW, is it also your belief that these same lying Republican elected officials are trying to unite the country and heal racial divisions?

When my family moved from the country to the city, we basically left our guns behind; however, I don’t see why anybody would want to take a  comfort object away from another person as long as they intend no harm to anyone and they are not obsessed with imaginary horribles.

I’m a liberal who believes in our right to have guns for the very reason it ays in the constitution. I’m not alone, many liberals I know are against gun control.

But if you don’t call them assault rifles, they’ll kill less. Just try it, it is the only plan the Republicans have to help us stem this tide of gun violence. If there is no bayonet, it isn’t an assault weapon and only 50 people will die, not like if they had an “assault weapon” silly right-wing PC language.

Who needs a gun when you can use a car or a big truck?? Remember the “not a terrorist” gal who mowed people down on a Vegas sidewalk? The cops killed by bad guys trying to run them down, and the “poor innocent” bad guys killed when they TRIED to mow cops down with cars??

150 grain bullet, or 4,000 pound car, or 25,000 pound truck, all potential mass killing devices.

Meanwhile, many are waking to the truth that if just one person with a clear head and an AR-15 had been present early along the truck’s 1.2 mile pathway, most of those people would still be alive.

Ah, the “good guy with a gun” fantasy. Funny that you didn’t bring up the murders of police in Dallas, where there were all sorts of people carrying weapons (including assault rifles), and they ended up resorting to a bomb-carrying robot (which is just as disturbing as it sounds) to take out the shooter after several hours.

Edward ClaytonThey are actually under the delusion that their auto-loading, looks like a military rifle is going to turn back tanks and drones when they finally get the order from the Nazi Revolutionary Army to rise up and overthrow the United States of America. The NRA has been levying war against the United States (see Article III Section 3) for decades, but has never dared issue the order. They are satisfied to keep making money for their arms merchant overlords..KaffekupComing by, or permitted to be published? I have seen his work in other venues. They did the same with Ben Sargent when he retired from the Austin American-Statesman, but stilldraws for the Texas Observer. They print cartoons on municipal subjects, but not those on a rather large and populated area like a populist view of Texas. I have seen two Handlesman cartoons in the corporate Dallas Morning News between those published here. There may be more than production involved here.

@hippogriff said“Edward ClaytonThey are actually under the delusion that their auto-loading, looks like a military rifle is going to turn back tanks and drones".I doubt that..They figure they can kill invaders when they decide to exit their tanks. They figure they can kill rioters before they burn down their homes with their spouses and children in them. They figure they can fend off some of Trump’s thugs. They expect to kill burglars before they break in and kill them or kidnap their children..“The NRA has been levying war against the United States”.They tend to be citizens wishing to keep their civil rights, only opposing those who want to take them away by breaking the law which forbids infringing..Many are paranoid, but are they paranoid enough?

First it was, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters”…………………………Then, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said during a news conference here in an apparent reference to Mrs. Clinton’s deleted emails. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”…………………………..Now, “if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know,”

No ban could have any effect on existing stocks of guns, without the Gov’t. coming up with BILLIONS to buy them all up.You see, the Ex Post Facto and the Takings clauses of the Constitution prevent any form of confiscatory bans from being imposed. They can only ban future sales of newly-made guns.
