Maybe Calvin hasn’t seen one before because Calvin’s Mom has a rule of “NO WIRE HANGERS!”

Wire hangers were OK for clothes, but my mom liked wooden hangers when I got too far out of line.

Hobbes: “This explains why your clothes stay on the floor.”

Ah, this is leading to the teenager’s “horizontal wardrobe.”

I solved the clothes on the floor problem with pegs on the walls. Of course, I am tall enough to reach the hangers in the closet.

Anyone remember Monty Python showing a severed big toe being found in a garden, and scientists speculated on what the ancient beast must have looked like … the animal envisioned was elephant-like with that big toe for a nose. Cracked me UP!

“Primitive hunting weapon” is actually what my friends and I used them for when we were young. We made slingshots out of them…

It an adult of the paperclip species. Like caterpillars turning into moths and butterfiles, paperclips cocoon and emerge as coat hangers. That’s why paperclips disappear and can never be found when you need one, while over time your closets spontaneously fill up with wire hangers.
