No one appreciates the effort Calvin puts in to entertain his dining companions.

I think green tapioca would put me off, too.

Personally, I think tapioca was invented on another world as well…

Never tasted tapioca, but I have eaten things that look worse, so I think I might be immune to it’s attack.

It’s a pity Calvin is only in elementary school getting F’s. I’m sure he’d get A’s in college creative writing classes.

Must be Lima Bean flavored tapioca. I hate lima beans.

I must suspect that Calvin stirred in the canned peas they were trying to feed him. Tapioca can be quite good, canned peas not so much.

In an American school cafeteria in 1980s or 1990s, would tapioca have been prepared in any other form than pudding (sweet for which Leading Edge gave recipe above)?

Get away from the green gelatinous entity, Calvin! Feed Hobbes to it! See if Ol’ Fuzzy taps out.

I’ve always been suspicious of tapioca, a pudding prepared with the root of a toxic plant. We learned that in social studies. Teacher said, “Oh but they process it to get rid of the poison.” We all looked at each other with wild surmise; another attempt by grownups to bump us all off!

Cassava (tapioca) is a deadly poison unless processed correctly. It is necessary to cook tapioca three times to detoxify all the poison. How would you like to have been in that jungle focus group?

I love tapioca, I once had it made with coconut milk in French Polynesia – wonderful.

Spiff needs SPACE INSURANCE. So when you’re getting chased by a TIE fighter…or your engines fail…You can always count on SPACE INSURANCE.

The punctuation mark "apostrophe” does not mean “here comes an s”.

When the strips were first run, If I seen Cal was in “Spiff” of “Stupendous” mode, I’d put my hand over the last panel to see how his fantasy fit into real life. This was one I figured out, although I thought it was his Mom’s cooking with the “suffocating stench”.

An apostrophe just means that something has been left out. Such as, “6 o’clock” is short for the old “6 of the clock” and “Jack’s house” is short for the old “Jack his house”. Nothing has been left out of plural words so no apostrophe is used.

Why does everyone think school dinners are disgusting? When I was Calvin’s age the school dinners were delicious!

When I started Secondary School. Well, I only liked 2 things and then a while after that I brought a packed lunch from home.

Mom used to make tapioca pudding from time to time for dessert. I loved it back then. Haven’t eaten it in years since I learned it’s what they feed sumo wrestlers to fatten them up.

Never ate school chow. I was fortunate that Mom always packed lunch for me and dad. Learned to save a ton of $$ that way when I started working.

We just got one of those “bubble tea”places locally, that put tapioca pearls in tea. I don’t think it’s gonna make it.
