I have reached the age and stage of life where I dress for comfort not for style.Living in warmer climes will do that for you.
Northerners only get to strip down to the essentials for a couple or three months. The rest of the time they remain buttoned up – physically and mentally.
*Bob*’s fashion faux pas wasn’t the shorts – it was the damned tie !
Women made a statement of liberation by burning their bras. Men should have incinerated the necktie, at the same time.
I got rid of the neckties more than 30 years ago ! Even when I wore suits for business, I eschewed the neck noose. It is an anachronistic apparel that serves no useful purpose.
It is interesting to think that the most likely reason for the necktie was to act as a bib to protect the shirt underneath from stains. As for myself, I tend to avoid them because I never thought it was a good idea to supply the rope if you’re going to get hung (figuratively, of course).

Bob is dressed to discourage imitation.

Problem is, it’s such a common name. He can easily convince himself that the sign is directed at some other Bob.

I don’t understand. Is it because the briefcase doesn’t go with the shorts? Everything else looks fine.

I think Wiley has some “stock” street corners and just draws his characters in. Nothing wrong with that.

We have a guy who wears Bermudas all year round, over long Johns in winter. Long as he’s comfortable with it, he’s stylish enough.
