He seemed to skip number two, that’s where a lot of people get stuck.

Ah! But, DID he trip the shutter before departing the mortal coil? There’ll be an achievement for his epitaph, even on his headstone, by George!

Both God and the Bachman’s Warbler are to be taken solely on faith.

Death in comic strips was not common. Mr. Trudeau used it very effectively.

I was going to show this to my bird-crazy friend… but I think maybe the funny part is canceled out by the depressing part.

Great way for a birder to die. But, he’s got to get that shot to become immortal – at least in the bird watching world.

@ThirdguyCanadians are like Americans except they spell like the British and they all have health insurance.

I remember this strip. It made me cry 30 (±) years ago.

I remember this. Being a birder also, I thought it fitting that this lovable character manages to see the nearly extinct Bachman’s Warbler before he dies. photo or no photo.

If Bachman’s warbler is a carrion eater species, this could be a whole “circle of life” thing.

"Her family dog died, and her comic strip kind of showed how her own family dealt with it. "

I think you mis-recall that part. My parent’s Airedale terrier died at about the same time as a ‘Farley’ compilation came out, which I sent as a consolation gift – they loved it. As I recall from the forward, it was a friend or relative who reminded Lynn that while the kids were growing, Farley, at around eleven in human years, wasn’t. This led to Farley’s heroic demise (and partial rebirth, as Edgar).

I look forward to the next strip. I remember how it goes and it’s going to be quite poignant.

I just wish that Doonesbury was as vigilant about the Clintons as he has ben with Trump. Both are evil, but I will hold my nose and vote Trump

This is why you should never go bird-watching alone.
