Cerabooge Ask an Australian. They had one of those loonies in Tasmania. Now one can have one hunting rifle, one hunting shotgun (restricted load, no handguns). They haven’t had a massacre since.
Thoughts and prayers do not win out over love of money and guns. Your right to a safe society is over, you have a non-zero chance of being gunned down in a public space because someone got paid a lot of money to allow assault rifles to be sold. There are no checks, no waiting, no small clips or messy bolts. Just pure fire power. and the blood is going a lot higher than shown, just some don’t mind the blood. It is collateral damage so they can have their guns and money. My thoughts and prayers are the NRA is visited by biblical plagues until this madness ends. My thoughts go to the next victims, and the next child shot because of easy access to guns. My prayers go to those who will not help that child because of love of guns and money.
The Sig Sauer used in Orlando is even more “military” as the manufacturer proclaims in it’s statement on the weapon being for military or police use. It isn’t needed for hunting, or for going out “clubbing” on a weekend’s entertainment.
I’m a gun owner, liberal, disabled veteran, former law enforcement officer (Federal) and trained in the ethics as well as “functional application” of several classes of firearms. I wouldn’t waste my money for civilian purposes on an AR-15 or a Sig rifle. I DO own a rifle that can take out a “bad guy” at over 1,000 meters, as well as handguns fully useful in self defense at close proximity, most gun use being at less than 20 feet in fact. I didn’t used to even care about a firearm for self defense, but while I slowed down a lot over the years, and not as fast at 65 as at 25, a .45 APC hasn’t slowed down a bit.
The real issues are around profit margins for manufacturers, and mass capacity magazines, not actually the rifle or pistol that uses them. Selling these testosterone surging weapons is profitable, but not actually practical for any civilian use. (Even those professing short-barrel rifles for “home defense” ignore that real security isn’t dependent on ammunition capacity that allows you to MISS the “bad guy” 20-30 times!!)

Because the world never had problems with the followers of a certain 7th century warlord before guns were invented 800 years ago…

There should be no guns at all, not even for the police.

You’ve gotta be impressed with how quickly Republicans/Fox “news” viewers can whip out their thoughts and prayers every time there is a mass shooting.

Keep em scared, keep them powerless, and you can steer their little thoughts any direction you want.

It’s been five days. Aren’t we overdue for another event on which we can use this?

The Republicans see this toon as half empty. Why talk gun control, we don’t even have to tread yet.
