Right… a life-size ventriloquist doll. Keep trying, lasses.

This act works for me.

I can’t believe for a New York minute that Bernice would even consider this, let alone practice a routine based on this idea. Too crazy…

I am trying to remember. There is an act where a man has several dummies, including a snarky old man one. Bernice reminds me of the snarky old man dummy with her words and appearance here.

Luann and Bernice’s tongue twisted banter reminds me of the tongue in cheek humor on the original version of “The Electric Company”, as shown here, in the line by J. Arthur Crank (played by Jimmy Boyd), as seen at the 52 second mark, here….

This is what you get for not catching the beanbag, Bernice. Trust me, if you put the kibosh on this too Luann will probably think of something you’ll like even less.

Maybe Bernice is a dummy here to match her action in today’s Luann Againn…

Bernice is sitting in Luann’s lap, Luann’s arm around Bernice’s back… It’s getting hot.

It’s part of the script, Luann, just not yours. (I don’t think she’s ready for a metaphysical moment.)

Maybe a smart dummy isn’t funny – but a smart ass dummy can fetch some laughs.

E-Gad! Bernice has MORPHED Into that Annoying, Misanthropic ‘Daria Morgendorffer,’ from that Ghastly MTV Series of the last Decade. Ack!

I have a comment in mind not suited to a family strip.

Instead I will suggest that if Bernice is uncomfortable with her part, she can quit leaning on Luann and forage for herself….

Bernice can dress as a baby on Luann’s lap while Luann sings “Mockingbird” or “Wonderful Baby”.

Two girlfriends with the relationship and the personalities of Luann and Bernice would make an hilarious comedy act if they could just incorporate the bickering and back and forth (sorry too early to think of a better descriptive word) between them. Luann with her ability to say funny things and Bermice with her sarcasm and snarky (I actually hate that word, but it suffices) commentary could, if put together right be quite funny. I like the ventriloquist set-up as well. Wonder where this will be going.

how about an act where two “dummies” talk to each other about their ventriloquist master? That’d be novel!

The attempts at talent get worse every day. I wonder what “talent” they will be doing on Saturday? Maybe some kind of magic trick.

Maybe they should do the act just that way; as they’re doing it now, arguments and all.

Susanabanana reminds me of Rosanrosanadana. Today’s comic is their act. Just needs a little polish.

Hey, i had a cool thing happen, a mostly unilateral optical illusion. It has not yet begun raining, but the courtyard parking lot asphalt looked like it had little puddles. When i closed my worse eye the illusion went away. With just my bad eye the smearing makes the wet look appear, but using the two together is even more effective fir seeing what is not there — till just now actually since Steve just called that the rain began right now.

what would their protest signs say?“Give Dummies their own voice!” ?“Get Your hands out of our business!” ?

I wish I had known a person that smart and self aware as Daria that age in HS.

I fell in love with the character from the minute she uttered one line of dialogue on the very first broadcast..Lawndale High had given her a psychological test on her first day there (no doubt at the direction of Ms. Lee) and determined that, based on her snarky answers, she suffered from low self esteem. Of course, Helen Morgendorffer overreacts to the phone call about it. And Daria says:.“Don’t worry. I don’t have low self esteem. It’s a mistake. I have low esteem for everyone else.”.Defined her character perfectly.

I wished for Rocky and Bullwinkle, but all I got was Trading Places. And a lot of snarkiness…

there’s no better dummy than Bernice. only her male counterpart, Gunther, can be similarly dummy-ish
