In this case, ‘Bizarro’ (Nanrempus) wasn’t giving an ‘acute diagnosis’. Nanrempus knows Bern was being literal in her statement. Nanrempus was making a good point, using the situation at hand to paint a figurative picture of her current ‘love life’ with a relative simile/metaphor….

I used to have an educational book called “Juggling for the Complete Klutz”. Came with a set of three beanbags (because balls roll away and have to be retrieved when you drop them)..Luann is doing the second exercise from that book. Bernice is doing the first.

Juggling one beanbag (even with a more proficient partner doing the same) wouldn’t be much of a talent even if Bernice could do it. Since she cannot or will not, Luann has fulfilled her friendship obligation and can leave Bernie to her own devices with a clear conscience….

3Learning to juggle for a Talent Show is not an overly productive idea for those two. Juggling skill takes quite a while to develop… let alone develop it to a high enough degree that it could be presentable as a “show” of sorts. Not sure where this is headed at the moment. Today sort of seems like a “filler day” of sorts. Interesting things of note:1) Notice that Bernice is taller than Luann even when Luann is wearing quite pronounced high heels and Bernice is wearing flat sneakers. 2) I think Bernice likely dropped the beanbag on purpose (failed to catch it). I think Luann should turn the tables on Bernice and have Bernice figure out what to do for the Talent Show so that she begins to buy into the idea. As it stands at the moment, Bernice is not even trying.

Here Bern, take THIS ‘Bean Bag.’

It contains Star-Head’s REAL Name, Address, Phone Number, Social Security Number, a Brief Bio, His Likes and Dislikes, His (Non-Sexist) ‘Vital Statistics,’ His Laughable Political Affiliations, where He purchases His BVD’s and Most Importantly, where He can be reached in the event of a National Catastrophe.

I’m guessing Bernice lacks hand to eye coordination. That means by the time the message of where the object is hits the hand from the brain, the message is so late the hand is in the wrong place.

Or it could be poor depth perception.

I have both so playing any game involving a moving object is a lost cause.

Heh, heh, but it can also be said that they are “left wanting”…..-In my case, though, being of “mixed-handedness” (different from ‘ambidexterous’, in some ways), it all depends upon the sitiation. Some sports/activities, like baseball, computer use, archery, etc, i’m left handed. For writing, i started out as a lefty, but switched to right, because as a kid, i saw so many others use their right. For bowling, football, basketball, brushing my teeth, eating, and everything else, i can switch back and forth.

-Actually, as someone who grew up with an uncle who was a foot doctor (he is now deceased), there is something wrong with either a man or a woman wearing the same shoes day after day. If you can afford only one pair, then it can’t be helped. But shoes apparently need to be aired out so that mold and bacteria don’t grow in them and have a negative affect on foot health. So said Uncle Doc, anyway…

Forget juggling. They should do classic Vegas magic. Luann could saw Bernice in half! Gunther could try escaping from handcuffs while locked in a safe at the bottom of a watertank filled with crocodiles, broken glass and mines. Tiffany could catch a bullet in her teeth. Piro could do sword swallowing. The possibilities are endless…Maybe Luann could do a ‘Great Gonzo’ and eat a tire to the tune of flight of the bumblebees?

-My paternal uncle died from the same inherited intestinal disorder that killed my father and grandfather, and that has threatened my life several times; it’s called Crohn’s disease.

As far as the problem with wearing the same shoes every day, the issue is that feet sweat, and the sweat doesn’t immediately dry in the shoe. If insufficient time passes between wearings, the leather will not stand up very long (despite tanning, apparently), so the shoes do not hold onto the shape they are supposed to have. Misshapen shoes can be as destructive to the health of a foot as spiked pointy toed shoes. If that were not the case, foot doctors would probably only be treating women patients for stuff like bunions and badly infected sores on heels, hammer toes, infected toe nails and so on and so on. Not everything bad that happens to feet results from diabetes.

You are fortunate to have avoided any problems from wearing the same shoes every day, or maybe you just don’t sweat as much as the average guy, or something. But it’s better health-wise to at least have an alternate pair of shoes, was what he told us.

Nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes day after day.

While that is true, please remember you are in the Luanniverse. The reason she has the same shoes on is the reason why she is wearing the same outfit as she was when this arc started. It is also the reason that Bernice is dressed identically ….This is all taking place on the same day, even though we are reading it over multiple days.

You guys totally miss my point. I am not talking about how they look, what I am saying is that Luann can catch the beanbag in heels, while Bernice is wearing “sensible shoes.” Remember the old saying by Ginger Rogers about doing dance routines with Fred Astaire that she had to do everything Fred did, backwards and in high heals?

argy.bargy2 said,“This is somewhat similar to what seems to be prevalent in societies run by extremely conservative (that’s not the right word, but I have no other) Islamic societies these days. Saudi Arabia apparently allows girls to go to school, but women are not allowed to drive and may still not be allowed to vote. I think they are very restricted in jobs, too.”.As to “prevalent in societies run by extremely conservative (that’s not the right word, but I have no other) Islamic societies”, the appropriate — although dangerous word — is “repressive”. Try it. See if it doesn’t fit: “prevalent in societies run by extremely repressive Islamic societies”..To be honest, though, “conservative” was also apt, since “Islam” means “submission” and being true to the original meaning is always conservative..They intend people to voluntarily submit, but slavery and execution is encouraged for non-acceptance and for those adopting other religions. They even declare children of Muslims to be Muslim as we saw in North Africa when they decided to execute a woman whose father was Muslim when she declared for Christ. (President Obama convinced them to repent, but it was costly.).Those who allow people freedom do so only by paying lip service and secretly rejecting The Words of the Prophet. If any of their children, relatives or neighbors become true believers, their days are numbered — small numbers at that..I imagine Germans picked up some of the attitudes while trying to get THEM to submit — which implies they already had those attitudes — during the assorted crusades ordered by the assorted popes..Still, there is a difference between seeking the happiness of others and killing or enslaving others for your own happiness..Moslems in India assure me the Hindus are even worse, since burning widows alive on husbands’ funeral pyres is involved, but I’m probably prejudiced.

It can be done, though. When i had a neuromuscular disease while a college student my hands would decide to not cooperate, so that year, just by doing it since i had to, i wrote and took notes by alternating between my hands, and used a small tape recorder when both were simultaneously uncooperative. Easy? No. Possible? Certainly. It just took a bit of time and effort.
