Isn’t better to put them on plastic bags? I did that on field trips. It’s better if they are not squished. You can scare people with them and even lose your fear of them if you stare long enough.
I can imagine kids aren’t given the “carbon tet” jars any more. AKA “kill jars”—there was some kind of solid medium in the bottom impregnated with carbon tetrachloride; you popped your bug inside, screwed the cap back on and waited. In a few seconds, it would be dead and ready to pin. Ahhh, the 70s….
