Republican: If we conservatives didn't raise the retirement age, you'd be frittering away your golden years lolling around on that damned Social Security, Gran'ma. Punk: Tell 'em to make themselves useful, I say!
In one lifetime I had a very, very low expectation of a long life. Then in another I had a reasonable expectation of a fairly long life. Then in another I had an expectation that I might not make it to retirement. Then I had the idea I might make it to retirement. Then I wondered why I was concerned about any of it.
I shall work until I do not want to work any longer, at which time I shall retire. That I am 64 now means I have about 6 years to go.

Hmm… I dunno. People live longer now. The retirement age does need to be raised.

Professional athletes have great retirement plans, but most of them don’t live long enough to benefit from them…

@fennec - I see what you’re saying. And thank you for that article, it was definitely an interesting and informative read.

^That’s cause you keep voting the guys you see on T.V., which incidentally are the same guys you’re complaining about.

raise the age of retirement and then make it easier to fire them just like the old days.

If Reagan had not raided the Social Security Trust Fund we wouldn’t be in this shape.

Boy those conservatives are stupid. Obama owns the printing presses. Just print more money. That would solve all of our problems.

Is this the same Granma coal miner of the Aug 4 cartoon?
alan.gurka over 13 years ago
No, this Granma looks younger. Maybe her kid sister, since her own family is too lazy to work the mines.
