Mr. Toles writes for the Washington Post. In drawing cartoons focused on DC area problems, he is serving his local readers. So on Gocomics we get his cartoons about DC area problems, along with his cartoons about national and international problems. In other words, he is doing his job, which is much more than can be said of many of the politicians in DC.
On March, 14, 2016 an electrified rail caught fire, but this is allegedly the latest incident. I see the above tunnel fire as Toles’ wit suggesting the birthday cake had too many candles that went berserk.
My wife & I visited DC for over a week last fall. First time visitor & we rode the Metro everyday. Jealous that Seattle doesn’t have a system as well thought out. I’m sorry to hear of the aging infrastructure & congresses refusal to help bring it up to code
