After a certain age one REALLY develops an appreciation for Jerry Seinfeld’s “good naked/bad naked” routine.

“bathing suit” always drove me nuts. It dates back to Victorian days when people entered the surf fully clothed. Nowadays, people wear “swim suits” if that.

I took his “not the same” comment to mean that she doesn’t ask for his opinion or even invite him along. She buys a suit for her body issues, he wants a suit for the lovely, sexy woman he still sees her as.

I read it the same way @ArcherJade did – that she isn’t trying on suits and letting him watch, but buying online.

I have a vague recollection of Janis actually modeling suits for Arlo way, way back. I find her total disgust at her body’s current condition aggravating, especially since Arlo still shows a lot — a lot — of interest in it. Arlo’s support and encouragement have no impact upon her. Is this happening at your house, JJ?

Janis still has a hot bod and Arlo knows it.

Remember that Janis is a creation of the cartoonist, not a real person. To me it is sad that our cartoonist has this idea that women are like that. Not all women are like that! Lots of us enjoy our sexiness and like our husbands to comment on it. We can respond to his interest wholeheartedly.
