    Why, five feet, of course. Every versifier knows that! The problem is that the majority of poets are not versifiers and the majority of versifiers are not poets. Paradoxical, ain’t it?

    A pentameter is about 16 feet actually nearly 200 inches in length. It is impossible to convert metric measurements into English standard because the French Revolution occurred so long ago that the original documents are no longer legible.
