I took three this year. My state is filthy with deer. I donated one to the homeless shelter, along with a feral pig. They’ll eat well for a while, at least.
It means that mostly, the only people who still hunt are those who have some practical need to do so, such as for food or pest control. Those who hunt for fun have transferred their attentions to artificial prey, except for psychopaths like that dentist who killed Cecil the lion, whose interest is in the death rather than the hunt.

Hunters don’t hunt anymore. All a deer has to do is stay a hundred yards from an open road and they’re safe from over 90% of the people out there.
