I can understand Jason’s lack of interest in Valentines from the girls. I just don’t get what they see in him. Not my idea of a chick magnet.

@JastMe and Marathon ZackWait, wait. Both of you (and apparently also @JP Steve) just said that all the kids in your classes had to write valentines to all the other kids in the class. All the other kids as in both boys and girls? Man, you people went to really progressive schools!

@stodMy kids go to a Catholic school, which is why they can tell you St. Valentine’s Day is about love for your fellow man, or at least it was until the candy companies got greedy. .But yes, IF they take in Valentines, they have to give one to every class member. They do NOT have to give them out at all though if they choose not too. Mine like to give them out to the whole grade (only 35 or so kids, they have small classes).

I attended school in several different school systems, and in none of them were kids expected — or even encouraged — to give each other valentines. So I find it puzzling to see so many posts claiming they were coerced into giving them… especially to everybody, which pretty well negates the intent of the holiday.
