Waaaay back when I was young & all this stuff was starting, I worked in a bank. We had a drop box for quick deposits that was kept behind the counter. The guard would come over & ask for the mail key. As a joke- I put fe in front & had them ask for the femail key!
Reminds me of a joke that was funny back in the 80’s (not nearly as much now):.When I was a kid “Man” (capitalized) referred to the human race, while “man” (lowercase) was the counterpart to “woman”. Soon afterward, “Man” was declared sexist and everybody said we need to start saying “mankind”..The joke went from there saying that “mankind” is also sexist because it has “man” in it, so we need to say “humankind.” (I believe real life took this step.) But that still has “man” in it, so we need to swap it for “person”, making us all now say “hupersonkind” (real life didn’t go here, but I remember lots of people trying to promote the use of “personkind”.) But “hupersonkind” contains “son” which is also sexist, so we need to replace that with “child”. So the politically correct word to refer to the human species is “huperchildkind”..It’s a bit hard to say but if you don’t, you’re an evil sexist and should be banned from everything in the world.
“Do I detect a theme growing here?”.Two separate themes. The one here is parodying extreme “PC”-ism… as in wanting schools to teach about the “Roperson” Empire. The other is the recent report that items labeled “for women” or “for girls” are routinely priced higher than those labeled “for men” or “for boys”… even when it’s the exact same item in the same store.
