A strip that’s not here (I think it was Rose is Rose) had the father Zoom in to work with his very spoiled very young daughter. I’m not sure how old she is. He had everyone in the office come n 1 by 1 to introduce them to her daughter. That was my thought when I read it and I was thinking he was commenting about that.
My late husband’s used the nickname Bud. It had been that since childhood. When I first met him, his answer machine message was a cute one involving Bud Light & ended with "leave the message at the-and it was a burp. We couldn’t figure out how to add my name to it, so he changed it, but it really was cute.
On the Delta Queen when my late husband was the banjo player & entertainer, there was a keyboard player whose last name was Leake. Bud would announce that everyone should go up to see (i think his first name was) Ray Leake on the calliope. Ray was not necessarily amused although everyone else laughed.
