I had to look up “sea doo”. I don’t think Grandma can afford it, and it might take awhile before the ocean reaches their trailer park. It’s good to see some science in the comics. I would like to see more of it, especially the science that science-deniers don’t like.

Grandma has chosen the adaptation option.

Thank you Tony for getting it right. Climate change. Much warmer here than usual, much cooler down south than usual.

“No, AGW will hurt nearly everyone badly. Only the rich have a chance of being fully protected, will always have more than enough food and clean water and temperature controlled living areas in luxury. The rest of us, not so good.”.Much depends on the rate of change. Climate change in the past turned North Africa from a major wheat producer to a desert. It could change it back with higher evaporation and precipitation rates..Some mosquitoes which didn’t do well in Florida are now thriving. Rough on humans, but the mosquitoes are happy about it. There is some evidence that even the Burmese pythons are finding it habitable further north than earlier. Rough on the deer and alligators (And humans?) they eat, but makes snakes coil in delight..And don’t forget that wealth moves, families of the richest blow it all in time and children of the poorest sometimes rise highly..Also, average real wealth continues to increase over time and even more in the future with increased energy availability, knowledge, communications and computing power..Think of the junk Agnes plays with and the fact that much of it couldn’t be had for any price just a few decades ago.
