Talking about a parent who is no longer a part of the family is really difficult. My first husband was never there for my son. Over the years this has all been resolved, but when Aaron was young, it was important to talk openly and honestly about what had happened without prejudice and without assigning blame. I used to wonder when I’d feel like a grown up. Handling this issue made me grow up fast.
Connie is a radiologist. She went to Equador right after college to work in a clinic. She met a Brazilian doctor, Dr Pablo da Silva and they fell in love. They decided not to marry because they were from such different worlds, and when she got home to Canada, she discovered she was pregnant. The story of how Lawrence met his father at age 23 was printed on October 20-30, 1999 in the daily strips.
Just because you’re using words other than “sex” to say “sex” does not change the nastiness of what you’re saying. Just because you don’t marry doesn’t mean you don’t care about the rights of the child. You have issues.
Wow, that is so true, now days! Someone tell that to my ex-daughter-in-law. It’s such a revolving door at her house, that the boys refuse to even meet the latest conquest anymore. And when she is “entertaining”….don’t even THINK to interrupt her in any way, shape or form!
I don’t understand why Elly will Lizzy about this though…it was never explained to me. Yeah its a great backtrack for later in the story when Michael finds out and confronts Liz as a background, but other than that…what’s the point of this particular moment? She could have just said, “Its not my place to tell,” and its honestly not. But I digress, this series was out before I was even more, there’s no use in crying over spilled milk

Oh OK. I was responding to a comment, which read that Lawrence had a deadbeat dad and with the similarities to US President Obama’s childhood. Now I cannot find that comment, maybe it vanished. I am no expert on Canadian affairs, but I do know “the president of Canada” does not exist! :)

It would have been no different if the father and Connie had divorced when Lawrence was a baby.-For that matter, why are you all over Connie?Are you suggesting the father was just some innocent bystander?News flash, Charlie, the father could have visited Lawrence, or made some effort to contact him.Connie didn’t knock the guy down, take advantage of him, and dash off to Canada to secretly have a child.Yeesh.
No matter how Connie & Pablo’s actions resulted in Lawrence being born out of wedlock, I’m sure Lawrence prefers that to not having been born at all. The way I understand it, Connie told Pablo she was pregnant, he told her to return to Canada, he would join her later and they would marry. He never came, and just stopped answering her letters.
