Wow, I’m shocked. And saddened at the same time. This actually is a January 8th strip. January 8, 1969 in fact. Shocked they ran it on the correct date. Saddened they had to erase Schulz’s hand written date for the typed one. Look at the date on the original, Schulz’s writing has the 1 slightly slanted to the right. It’s also a simple line, nothing at the top. The eight also looks like it has two points in the upper righthand corner suggesting where he began and ended.

Be even more shocked if tomorrow actually followed today’s strip as it did in the original run. Especially since they already ran it December 28, 2015

Wow. Way to be totally offended by something that wasn’t said.

I suggest reading http://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur/2016/01/08 (and the last few days) for some insight!

Peggy Fleming is mentioned, is she retired from skating nowadays?

As a figure skater, these strips are my favorites. I hope the next skating one follows tomorrow.

For those who don’t know, Charles Schulz’s daughter was a figure skater. :)

I seem to recall that he built and owned a skating rink near his home in California. And, of course, he grew up in St. Paul Minnesota where we had public skating rinks on the lakes (and still do).

I remember reading when the “Classic Peanuts” run started that it would begin with 1974, since that was the first year that included most of the major characters over the course of the strip. Yet the run has gone in reverse, with most of the strips bouncing around the 1960s, some years running more than once. Which is fine, but I do hope at some point they run later strips that will show characters like Marcie, Rerun, and Spike.

Peggy Fleming is married, has a couple of kids, and is a grandmother at least twice over.

As far as I recall, Snoopy never married…

I’ve never been ice skating, I don’t want to try it either as I slipped and hurt myself on the ice when it had been snowing.

    Once is enough!

@anjumahmedTrue, the Red Baron has actually been dead FAR longer these days then he was when Snoopy first started to fight him all those decades ago, lol.

No, I’m saying that I’m shocked they actually run the strip on the day it originally ran and saddened that they feel the need to erase Schulz’s hand written date. I’m also saddened that they probably will not follow the arc as they already ran the following day’s strip and may decide that folks will get upset by running it so soon after they last ran it.

It might shock you that I like to re-read the strips as well. And in the case of story arcs I’d like to have the actual date a strip ran so that I can go back through the archives, find the original, uncolorized strip, and discover if it was a part of a story arc then read the whole story arc before it is possibly run now. But by erasing the original dates from the strips and printing in new dates their making that difficult to do. Not impossible, just difficult.
