There was a goaltender for the NY Islanders in their Stanly Cup Days (late70’s – early 80’s) named Billy Smith. Smith was famous for doing a lot of damage to passing skaters with the butt end of his stick. He was so magician-like fast about it the referee’s hardly ever caught him. This strip is dated two years before Smith started playing.
