My parents wouldn’t have allowed that. They’d want to inspect the candy before I devoured it.

A billion or so children in the world are poised to take over as soon as they can wrench the levers of power from the cold, dead hands of their elders. Among them the cooperators will as usual work for the good of humanity and the planet, but this time aided by universal communication over the Internet. At the same time the greedy, entitled, cynical, alienated non-cooperators will work against each others’ interests and wonder why they can’t control the message and raise all of their children in the bubble any more.

Have you noticed the Republican Presidential candidates declaring war on the Left-wing media, including Fox, for asking such mean questions, and on the Republican National Committee for allowing it? That’s impressive, but it is only one example of the Right working at cross purposes to itself.

Welcome to your world, Calvin. You aren’t that scary any more.

In Des Moines area, and probably most of Iowa, the kids are supposed to tell a joke before they get their candy. I miss that here in Indianapolis

Yep—the kids we raise (or fail to raise) are the ones who will be responsible for our care when we get old.
