Fact: Whenever the GOP feels like it is losing or becoming irrelevant, it brings up the subject of the Debt. Otherwise not a peep – witness 2001 to 2008 of the Bush II’s reign of unfettered spending.
At this point, there’s one or two people who post have said if the President came out against breathing they’d be against that too. After seeing the same comics from the Republican leaning comic writers it’s the same nonsense every day.
It’s like we have nothing so let’s just keep saying the same thing over and over again and maybe it will turn into reality.
I think I’m going to try that and say I’m a millionaire every day and see if that works.
In spite of the fact that it’s the other parties fault - good thing ther are only 2 choices - Mike Patton thinks the superpostion of political ideologies can work.“To change direction, however, we will need elected officials who are willing to put the needs of the country ahead of their own agenda. In other words, politics will have to take a back seat. You can be sure of this: You cannot circumvent the laws of economics.”http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikepatton/2015/04/24/national-debt-tops-18-trillion-guess-how-much-you-owe/2/
I was going to say something about how completely wrong this stupid cartoon is, but several dozen others appear to have beaten me to the punch. Good work, Marshall!
Commenters are beating you over the head, Mr. Ramsey, and rightly so. I suggest a different approach, one that shows who owns US debt and what might happen if we paid it off. Or, how about a cartoon showing a Net Worth view that compares debt with assets owned by the government. Once you get these views across, you could work on showing how balancing the federal budget would cause monstrous instability in our economy. Go for it, Mr. Ramsey, there is important work to do.

Mt. Reagan-Bush will be the best name for it. Reagan Tripled the National Debt; Bush doubled it.
