    Republiclans are just trying to make sure only brightest, most productive and least melanin-challenged voters cast the significant votes. Oh, did I mention the minimal salary eligibility levels? $250,000/yr.

    Clearly we need reform. Passing laws to disenfranchise citizens from voting is something out of the dark ages. This is supposed to be a democracy where everyone should be highly encouraged to vote. If we fail that, we clearly are no longer a democratic state.

    And remember that there are some Republicans who want to strip everyone’s right to vote for their Senator and put it back to being a choice of the state’s legislature. And here I thought Democracy was all about giving people the right to vote. Silly me.

    @Bruce 4671

    I was born in the US 65 yrs ago, and I now need to dig out my birth certificate to get another valid photo id (I have a driver’s license and passport)? And then I must show up physically at a polling station to show off my assorted paraphernalia so I can Vote? I go to work at 0330, and do NOT want to wait in line at 1730 so I can cast my vote. I use a mail-in option to avoid all that. So now you have turned my 13 hour day into a 17 hour day. Thanks a zillion!
