“We have always been at war with Eastasia”. It’s not just money, it’s the effect on the populace. For many people, being in a war excuses ANY behavior by the government.

They are still chanting “death to America” and have very recently been sponsors of terrorism. .What can go wrong?

The antiterrorism sanctions are still in place. This is a nuclear treaty. Not about prisoners, either. A lot of Israeli generals and top security people favor it, also, although you won’t here that. As for death to America, who said “Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran”?
