    I think I read once that extremely loud noises, such as during a bad severe thunderstorm can cause a type of panic death in whole flocks of chickens.

    No, Jon. I am fortunate enough to have never witnessed that. We only have 9 chickens though, so it wouldn’t be all that bad if they did ever stampede.

    Yes, I have been a Chicken Stampede! I worked one summer for Purina Feed stores, One my many jobs was catching Chickens. They could exceed over 2000 in number. Chickens do Not like to be Caught!!!!

    Sailor 46—-Catching chickens is really easy with the right tool. On our farm, we had a long stiff wire with a handle on one end, made from bending the wire like on a fly swatter wire handle, & on the other end was the wire curved with a hook shape, to catch the chicken by its leg. Simple & worked great.
