Mark Trail – James Allen joins in on the conversation at CK at times, like yesterday. Too bad some of the others don’t do that. They might get some good suggestions for improvement.Mary Worth – Pulling the old “I make the real money” argument. Totally discounts the contributions of cooking and maintaining a home, and other benefits.

Phantom – Don’t get me wrong, Democracy is a good thing. But “pure” democracy is dangerous. It demands the rule of the majority at all times. That means that the majority rules at the expense of the minority, or minorities. People who might “think outside the box” are not protected under law and run the risk of serious persecution if they dare to speak their views in public. That’s why the founding fathers in the United States set up a Representative Democracy more closely akin to a Republic, and then created the Bill of Rights to insure that it would work.

PHANTOM: The Bandar Tribe’s pure democracy reminds me of the tribe in the Kalahari (southern Africa) in the 1980 movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy.
