Roman javelins had soft shanks specifically so they couldn’t be returned. If they killed you, fine, and if they hit your shield, they’d stick, but bend, so that not only couldn’t throw it back, you’d probably have to throw your shield away.

I actually know someone who can catch a thrown spear in mid-air and return it, ten out of ten times.

Unless Hobbes is declawed, it is probably better he not play with water balloons…

The returnable and reusable part was OK—but not the capturing-by-the-enemy part.
