Two people look at a construction mess with a sign behind it that reads "U.S. Infrastructure Not At Work." Man: If the U.S. is paving the road to an Iranian bomb, they'll never get there.
If borrowing money is bad, why did the Republicans gone on a decades-long spree of spending far more than they brought in? George W Bush wouldn’t even acknowledge that that’s what he was doing; all that war spending was “off-budget”.Democrats are derided as “tax and spend”. The Republicans are “borrow and spend”. Which is worse?
Media people have mostly become entertainers. There is little real journalism. It is all dramatic sound bytes. If it bleeds it leads. Who cares about real news.
The government doesn’t have the money to spend on improving the nation’s infrastructure. Most of the money they collected on the gas tax went to corporate welfare..(OK trolls; I gave you a good opening, now don’t dis-appoint me!)
Sigh. You’re so right. And to think that initially I was going to write something about the nature of money and the function of debt. But I’m not sure even I have a good understanding of that.
dear olee do not borrow money for personal consumption // concerning gov borrowing for projects [ ex dams or roads ok ] but to give $$$ to banks so ceo can get bonuses is not
“Borrowing money is bad.”I believe that Judson is just trying to emphasize the difference between church and state. It is the alright for a church to be kind to the poor and the elderly but once you join a political party you have to leave behind any sense of morality or ethics,
Congress can fast track a Pacific Trade Agreement, but can’t pass a road bill. How many short term (three month) bills did they pass since Noboma came into office. Bridge building usually takes two years, which means at least a two year spending plan is needed.

Welfare costs little and the returns are greater than what we get on all the tax breaks for offshoring outsourcers.

If you mean corporate welfare, I agree wholeheartedly. Bemoaning welfare to individuals is a tired conservative tactic.
