My classmates and I recently celebrated our 50th reunion and we agree that everyone of them AFTER the 25th has been very good. I am looking forward to our 55th in a couple of years.

There were only 42 of us in my high school graduating class ( all guys ). When the 40th came around, one of the guys tried to contact everyone for a reunion. He managed to find seven of us.For the 50th reunion, nobody bothered.

I went to the 10th and 20th, because I could stay with family reasonably nearby. It’s been 45 years now. I only spent 3 years in that town, which is 300 miles from where I grew up and went back to.The reunion and classmate data now seem to be in the hands of some for-profit company. I had to return their mailing to get taken off the list. Reunions are for those who were sociable and had groups back then, not the loners. If you ever wanted to find a missing person, I guarantee their college alumni association knows where they are.

I love the various “Roz eyes” at the end of the strips that include her!

There’s something to be said for that attitude. I was sort of a loner and not a group person. Certainly not one of the social “must knows” . But what you usually have in common with the others is having spent a fair amount of time in the same place. I missed my 50th reunion; but still haven’t made up my mind whether I want to try for any others that may develop.

I went to the 34 year bbq and ran into someone I liked and had stuff in common with me. Then I went to my 35th and discovered she’d died in the intervening year, and everyone else was either boring or annoying. I won’t even bother with the 50th unless I’ve got something else to do up there at the time.

I made many friends in high school, and many close friends I remain in contact regularly. My wife and I have attended most of our reunions, and are planning on our 50th coming up soon!

My HS class has been meeting on average every 5 years; my wife’s not so regularly. Although a few classmates are no longer with us, with a class of 800 plus, there are still many who still live reasonably close.

Interesting to note, while at lunch today with 4 classmates, a guy we do not see often was in attendance. He contacted another friend, and asked if we would mind him joining in for lunch, and he did.

If anyone is interested, here is a website devoted to High School classes: Click HERE to visit, find your location, and continue from there. The site is funded by volunteer classmates such as myself, so there is no spam, popups, or fees unless you wish to make a supporting contribution…

A HS reunion is an opportunity to step back in time. Refresh old memories – good or bad. Still, an opportunity. I share some of Nabuquduriuzhur’s attitude (condensed over his record breaking postings on Go Comics). I have met many more “negative attending” folks that were glad they went, than the other. When you leave the party…, you return to your life.

Missed my HS 10 yr for a Job Interview (didn’t get the job). Now I’m going to miss College 10 yr, because they scheduled it during the school year, (little counter-intuitive).
