Been a LONG while since we’ve seen him do that. He did say in the pilot strip to the fourth wall he’s cartoonist. (Guess Jon didn’t know his own strength after basketballing that paper wad.)

So cute how Garfield has his own blankie!

Must have been a very light bookcase! Jon’s brain couldn’t handle anything more than Fashion Trends for Dummies anyway.

If Jon can support Garfield’s lifestyle he must actually be a really popular cartoonist.

In the 37 years of this strip (which I wasn’t born at the time) I think this is first time I’ve seen Jon actually working as a cartoonist. His real job

Is that a trophy sitting in Jon’s bookcase? I wonder what he won that for?

Funny, yesterday I was wondering if Jon actually had a job, if the strip was ever going to acknowledge that Jon was supposed to be a cartoonist. They mentioned it a few times in the animated series, I think.

He switched from backhand to forehand and messed up.

I wonder what books Jon reads?

Murphy’s law in action…!!@char1997..are you serious!! I didn’t follow Garfield hard and fast since my childhood, only the occasional sunday strips and the few episodes of the cartoon show, and even I knew from long back that Jon’s a Cartoonist. Before PBS was even born

Thought this was interesting and amusing until my suspension of disbelief was toppled by the toppling bookcase.

To add insult to injury, that last wad of paper didn’t quite make it in the basket.

I do have to say that it’s nice to see Jon cartooning, after it was revealed that he was a cartoonist back in 1978.

He is at his tipping point.

I always thought the “Jon as a a cartoonist” aspect had been left behind long, long ago, at least in the world of the daily strip. Kind of interesting that Jim Davis would bring it back now.

Paper does more than cut fingers and lose to scissors. It tips bookcases onto cartoonists.

Let’s forget the bookshelf fallen on Jon. Notice the paper ball didn’t go in?
