Seems odd that people who self-identify as conservatives are betting on the long shot. Then, we are dead last in math achievement (K-12) and near to last in science.
It’s like kicking the can down the road on budgets. No sense solving a problem until there is no other choice. The politicians and unions in Illinois and Chicago are really good at kicking. They keep playing chicken as they roar down the road into bankruptcy. We will be just like Detroit. It will take a while longer before climate change gets us.
According to the climate scientists (who, amazingly, I trust) the amplitude and frequency of weather events will continue to increase. So, what I’d like to ask to those who are incapable of wrapping their minds around anthropogenic climate change is this: Will you assume the full burden of increased taxes that will be necessary to save, say, Miami? What about the Jersey shore? Galveston? The damages are going to be horrifically expensive.
Check out the National Geographic map, showing what the world will look like when the ice in Antarctica (and Greenland) all melts, and sea level rises by about TWO HUNDRED FEET. No more Florida (and hence, no Everglades), no more Gulf Coast, no more Eastern Seaboard, large areas of Europe underwater, inland sea in Australia, etc.
To all of you pro and deniers of global warming; here is a monkey wrench on your theories. All these climates changes were predicted a very long time ago, even two thousand years ago. You have all refuse to acknowledge the hand of God in all this. Sure you can lash at me now and call me a fanatic if you want to, but the fact is there: it was predicted, it’s happening, and nothing you could think of will help, nor more taxes, or more hopeless theories, or scientific bright ideas. Like it or not God is still in charge.
.It took me about a month to finish the first week, so I’m starting week 2 and the course is on week 5..If you listen to all the lectures, it takes close to 10 hours a week, which is more than I have..The basics (and the weakness) is that they claim long term studies show the heat in the upper atmosphere has decreased by the same amount as the measured warming over the earth (which includes land, sea, and lower atmosphere). We have reliable temperature reading from the official government weather stations going back at least 100 years, and any idiot who knows how to use Excel can run a regression and see that there is statistically significant evidence that the time series of global average temperatures has increased (of course, that rules out about 101% of deniers). But that leaves the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy: how can we be sure it’s anthropogenic?.The fact that man has somehow created a reflector that is trapping heat would take care of the post hoc fallacy. But how do we know that the average heat in the upper atmosphere has decreased? How long have we had accurate measures of the temperature in the upper atmosphere, and calculations of the total heat that’s being radiated by the earth? Of course, it’s a 10 week course, and maybe they’ll explain that later.
I’m waiting for one of the Billionairs to buy his own Aircraft Carrier..Or maybe a Consortium will go Shares since they all like to hang out together while they laugh at “The Poors”.
The Cost of moving all the Billionaires into orbit, Plus the Army of Slaves to do all the actual Habitat Building, is at least 10 times as much as even the 1% Has..There just isn’t enough iron, aluminum and titanium ore to go around. And hunting for it in the Asteroid belt would take over 100 Years to build the Infrastructure to support the Asteroid Mining..Because you know how Conservatives feel about spending money on Infrastructure…

Same reasoning goes for droughts, too much snow, too little snow, too hot, too cold, etc, etc, etc…

Thermometers used to measure global warming have a liberal bias
