I see. So what you’re saying is that we honor dead soldiers by keep sending soldiers to an unwinnable war we shouldn’t have started in the first place. I have to disagree.
Uncle Joe; latest figures still seem to reveal the NYPD has more “fighters” than ISIL. That Iraqis turn and run from a massively INFERIOR FORCE, show’s the army Rumsfeld gave us for “self-reliance”.
“We do no honor to our soldiers living or dead when we cede treasure already won with lives and honor to simply pull out for political gains at home.”So… going to war for treasure is a legitimate use of our army? Wow. Just, wow.I’ll make a generous re-interpretation of your statement, that we were somehow on the path to meaningful gains to peace in the middle east. If we had made any meaningful games, why did it take so little time for the situation to completely fall apart? If the Iraqi army won’t fight for Iraq, why should ours? Treasure?
“Until they buy a nuke.”What has been stopping the incredibly rich people who finance extremists from doing that already? Two things: It’s not that easy to transport a nuclear weapon of any size undetected. Transporting piecemeal components isn’t that easy. Swift repercussions would fall on all parties involved.Any nation that was caught providing a nuclear weapon would face a world united in outrage. And, they would be caught. If the worst case were to happen, the bomb would leave a signature that shows it’s origins. The only countries that I would envision having lax enough security or insane enough leadership, are North Korea & Pakistan. Any regime stupid enough to sell nukes would be signing their own death warrant. And, of course ISIS would be far more likely to use any such weapon against Iran or Shia Iraqis than anyone else. Launching a small nuke on Israel might be within their ability, if they obtained such a weapon. Getting one into the U.S. is about as likely as me winning the lottery.BTW, I don’t play the lottery.

And we should seriously think about when and where we send our people off to war. That would be honoring the dead.

Republicans keep starting wars because it’s good for business. But it’s so sad when they honor the dead and maimed once a year.

Let us also remember, honor, and SUPPORT those who did return, but have been horrible crippled. Both physically and mentally.

For many veterans, the problem with Memorial Day, is too many memories.

We honor the sacrifices made. It also a reminder that we should finish the job, once started.

We have the technology to end all conflict in the Middle East. All we have to do is use stuff like MOABs to reduce it to a complete wasteland.
