Yeah, of course It’s “only” 27% interest. That’s because the banks and other companies are interested in getting their hands on your other 63%"…. – Yeah, they would love to “go green and recycle”- and they will … they’re just waiting on you to give it to them….

Remember the adverts for the first “gift cards”?One starred Ebeneezer Scrooge, a usury money lender, who was shown handing them out with abandon. (One recipient actually was shown putting the card to best use as an ice scrapper.)Few people appreciated the honesty of what they were seeing.

And now, with the new tax regulations, some are offered a choice of establishing a new card (a sort of debit) through a 3rd party bank for their refunds. That is, if they don’t want to “give up” their current bank’s routing number to receive the refund…

Yeah, that seems the right way to do it!!!-That way, it’s only whatever is absolutely necessary, and too, you don’t leave “room” for them, and also no room for the temptation to “buy now, pay later” (emphasis on the pay part)!

What about Bilk Bank’s annual fee for the privilege of carrying their card? (None of my cards have one.)

BTW, Luann is wrong in presuming the bank wants her to pay in full every month. They want you to make only the minimum payment so they can rack up those interest charges. In fact, those of us who do pay the balance in full are considered “deadbeats” in the credit card industry, because they are making nothing but the merchant transaction fees. Yet, they can’t cancel you … so they are stuck hoping you’ll eventually need to use the card for an unbudgeted emergency expense and have to stretch out the payments.

But … boy, does paying off in full every month look good on your credit history when you need to take out a loan.

Usury was once illegal. Then its was merely ‘un-Christian’. Now it the backbone of the system.

Credit card scam, for sure. Don’t even get into debt, Luann and Bernice, because if you do you’ll probably never get out.Minimize use of any credit or debit cards and pay cash as often as you can.

It used to make me so mad. I wanted an American Express card, but they refused to even acknowledge my request! Yes, I had and full-time teaching job and always have had an A credit rating (600+) but they acted as if I did not exist! The year my son started college, however, living at home, unemployed and on my dole, he stared getting American Express card offers! They wanted him hooked on zero credit but never did offer me one.

Historically, usury was forbidden by the church for Christians. But, since Jews were not allowed to own land, they commonly became merchants and bankers.

There’s a term banks use for people who DO pay off their credit card balance every month: “Freeloader.” I was one of those for a few years before I decided to cut my credit cards altogether and stick with one debit card so I’d only be spending my own money.

Speaks to something my Mom used to tell me about credit cards when I was growing up: “Unless you have to, never charge anything unless you can pay it off at the end of the month.” Wise words indeed.

I put EVERYTHING on a card. I pay it off every month, and they charge me no interest. Plus, they fly me to Europe each year with the points. Free money indeed, but not for weak minds.

The bank has targeted Luann because Frank’s application for a loan, in which he told them that he figured the warehouse project would cost about $70K, convinced them that this family knows nothing whatsoever about money.
