Hitting .100 mph on the straightaway. A Metro employee falls asleep while he's building the track and infrastructure investment is headed toward the end.
And the “rail” companies like Burlington Northern Santa Fe could care less about keeping their end of the deal they made with the feds when they were given the land, and more importantly, the mineral estate, that turned them into oil companies.
ITS ALL BUSH’S FAULT…LOL!!!Oh that’s right, if it happened 7 years ago it wold be all Bush’s fault but since it’s your boy BARRY it must be the Conducters fault…..So sad.
I think it’s past time to clawback all the property that the railroad companies were given over the centuries. After paying the RRs for the track, they can start paying rent to the U.S. government for using the (once again) PUBLIC property. Of course, it’ll also take big changes in D.C. to get the funding to make the tracks safe for high-speed trains.
As Norman Thomas said so often it was almost his last words: “When we finally have to buy the railroads, I hope they don’t charge too much.” They are already charging too much and we still don’t own the track.
Here is a typical rewind the Engineer might remember…let’s see, I was watching the scenery and how fast it went by, and then the world went upside down and me with it. BAM, POW, BAM, OUCH!. Nope, I don’t remember much.
The issue isn’t so much on how much more money we must invest: It’s using all the money already INTENDED for infrastructure maintenance & upgrade, collected as taxes on gas, motor-freight & tolls that our state guvs & pols divert for other for uses.
Although I usually ignore your comments, this one tickled my curiosity. What did Obama do with the $800 billion? $275 billion in tax cuts. Other spending on education, health care, law enforcement, energy. $250 each to retirees (those must be the “wealthy liberal backers” to which you refer). $27 billion to highway and bridge construction. And $12 billion to “mass transit and rail projects”. 1 1/2 % to mass transit and rail together. And the tax cuts were Obama caving to the Republican (and a few Democratic) “conservatives”.

Is that Boner laying there? If it is, he’s working harder than usual at looking after the nation’s infrastructure.

The cartoon should show a barricade built of Republican filibusters.
