The good news is that no animals were harmed during this fantastic adventure.

Rick Redfern has never mentioned any football stories to my knowledge. Not saying that Jeff is clueless, but…

    Lewreader, patience.

Storryline seems plossible to me, but then my doc keeps changing my meds without telling to stop taking the other ones.

^Larry! Get the doc on the phone, STAT! Or just enjoy…

Rick should be getting all this down, and with just a little editing, he’ll have a heck of a thriller for his blog (or maybe shop it to a publisher - as fiction, of course).

Jeff should be thankful that Havoc shipped him back to the States instead of covertly implementing a more “permanent solution.”

It’s great that his captors let him keep his shades on while being flogged. Must be in the Geneva Convention somewhere.

His stories sound no less plausible than many that I’ve heard here by a certain someone.

SF/Fantasy at its finest. They are called The Funny Papers. Strange how so many people forget the source material is - always -one small step to the side of reality.

Nice story. Once had a fellow tell me all about a battle in Vietnam. On and on he went, “gooks this and charlie that and bombs and machine guns and more of the same.”

Then he asked me where I had been in Vietnam. I told him and he became very, very quiet. Haven’t seen much of him since…

“off the clock”? “level 9”? Does that mean they made a video game out of his exploits? I would really enjoy this cartoon strip so much more if I could understand all of it!

Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Redfern… It truly is unbelievable.

    Makes for good reading, though.

Now that he’s home, I wonder who his replacement is…

At least GBT makes an effort to draw horses, and even gives them reasonable facial expressions. Can’t say that about most cartoonists.

Hey JAD, I was a REMF (now called fobbits) too. We had some rockets and mortars in the Green Zone too. One time I was riding my bike to work and there was an attack closeby, I was all out in the open street and no shelter anywhere. IT was just a 3-round barrage about 200-500 meters away fortunately. We had it much easier because of all the mercenaries manning the perimeter and checkpoints. We didn’t have reactionary plans to man battlestations, just orders to stay indoors and repel invaders.

Joe, that’s exactly why I enlisted in the USAF when I got my draft notice in 1963. Traded 2 years of potential death for 4 years learning about and working with computers in MA and DC - used that knowledge in a 40+ year career in IT.

yes lindz.coop, it should have been the folks who actually got us OUT of Nam that were there instead of LBJ, and Bobby MacNamara, and retards like Westmoreland actually fighting instead of just calling for body counts. Oh and did you notice what happened when we finally did pull out of VietNam? The nice Communist Vietnamese welcomed everyone into their egalitarian, peace-loving society, and no one was forced to flee their homes and livelihoods for fear of their lives, and that’s why there are no Vietnamese immigrants living all over the United States now, right?

Would have been fine with me for LBJ and all the other @ssholes you mention to be there fighting the war they started and Nixon & Kissinger expanded. And, yes, I remember “Peace with Honor” very well and I’ve had many of the “boat people” as clients and students. I believe they probably wouldn’t have been forced into that situation if not for our many years of fruitless and costly (especially in lives) fighting on their soil.
