For those that didn’t check back later yesterday. Buster spending night at vet. Coming home with antibiotics. Will need to add water to his dry food from now on. Easy enough for me. All I care is I have my baby. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and good thoughts. Will keep you posted on his progress.
Ppfys, so happy to hear about the betterment of Buster. I do believe that God is looking down upon you both, and listening to all of us wishing both of you well. Like the old song says, you cant have one without the other. You and Buster need each other and so you have each other.
Yesterday I mentioned we gave Toshie diluted tuna water and diluted chicken and beef broth, they both were low sodium brands, except the beef, I boiled 5% hamburger and gave her the water (the meat I put in the soup pot for us!)Queen of America wanted to know and make sure there wasn’t too much salt. I did just what the Vet said. We also took her in to be infused with water under her skin once a week for 2 years. We tried to do it ourselves, but I stabbed Husband with the needle and from then on we went in! She lived a good life for those two years!
Good to hear he is doing better! Our Roy Batty the Pixie Bobcat like to use his paws to take the first few drinks. If Poodle sees this she gets put off her drink straight away.Roy will drink from the toilet if you forget to put the lid down. I’d rather he did not drink from it and refresh their water several times a day instead. As for Mama Taffy. I can’t recall if I’ve ever saw her take a drink. She is still a feral deep down and may drink when no one is around to see her.I can remember seeing tuna and beef flavored drinking water for pets about 20 years ago. Don’t know if it’s still around. Barbara is a salt Nazi for all of us, but especially the Catties. I can’t help it, I like to slip them a sliver of ham every now and then.
I’m anxious to hear how the night went for Buster. After everything we’ve gone through, I watch Moose pretty closely for his drinking and litter box output.
Well, you can sure tell those are kitty treats; they sound just like kitties!Ppyfss, hope your kit continues to improve. My girl pretty much won’t drink unless I give her a faucet drip. I hate to do it cuz I often forget to go back and turn it off, but I figure it’s worth it to keep her hydrated. Good luck with your Buster!
Ppyfss, glad Buster is doing better, when I was young we had a female cat that completely blocked -scared us bad. I was lucky with my recent set of kids, they drank large amounts of water from their bowl, Dripping from the tap was preferred though :)
It’s back to the vet for poor Moose. I’ve been watching him for 2 days and I think his crystals are back. Maybe he and Buster can get a group discount. This is just so frustrating for me AND poor Moose.
Just got Buster home from the vet. He ate some shreds with gravy. Every time he leaves the room I’m afraid he’s peeing where he shouldn’t. Right now he is laying in the middle of the floor giving himself a bath. He has to be on antibiotics for a week. My next big job is getting a black light and cleaning all the paces he tried to pee before he went to the vet. As long as he uses the box we’ll be good. I will try some of the suggestions here to see if I can get enough liquids into him. Wish me luck on that. Thank you all for the support the last couple of days. It helps when you know you aren’t alone.
Well – that trip was another small fortune. This time it included an xray. I saw the little crystals in his bladder. The vet said they are smaller than a month ago so we are hoping the new $$$$$ food is working. He goes back in a month for a recheck.
You are right about the poor quality of some cat food meat-I knew a woman who fed her cats lunch meat and such because she worked at a deli and could bring it home. The funny thing was she had one cat who was 25! It is like the guy who lives to 100 and contributes it to the booze and cigars he has everyday-genetics is an amazing thing.
I STILL think Chesney and cohort(s) are throwing their voices and making innocent little Oliver think the Treats package is talking!Am crossing fingers, toes, etc and keeping those prayers coming for Buster and now Moose!
I had kitties with this problem. My vet told me to put them on Science Diet or Iams. He also told me to put a little of the squeezy margarine on their food because it is salty and they would drink more water. Haven’t had any problems since. Moose and Buster, get well soon!!

How can an obligate carnivore have too much meat in their diet??
Starman1948 about 9 years ago
@McPheeters: excellent bio. I left you a Facebook message, my friend.

He does not get meat, not even table food. He gets plenty of bottled water.

I do believe George was still smoking his stogies at the end of his long life. They salt baby food too to make it taste good to the adults tasting it.

Best wishes to Buster and Moose, I hope that they both feel better soon, and of course I wish the same for the hoomans with health issues too.

Pet food and baby food also have sugar in them to make animals crave them… low down rotten shame.

Those treats are funny. They have a real ’tude.Reading all these comments on salt and sugar in foods makes me angry. Have food companies no shame?

Buster and Moose, poor babies. I haven’t had that problem in decades, and I feed Friskies wet and dry because it’s all they will eat.
