Pedal for 6 hours? No problem.

Sit on that saddle for 6 hours? Problem.

I used to bike around a local lake in an attempt to get in shape, about 30 miles I would guess. It took a little over 2 hours. I can’t imagine going 6 hours. I would probably die.

I’m not a good cyclist. But I have done similar things with walking. I tried out a new 6 mile walk (before I had anything with GPS in, not that signal was always amazing) and I wound up with a 13 mile walk with an out and back component. Very XC, slightly more so than my usual ones.

I tried to walk to a new place 0.9 miles away the other day, and wound up walking 2.5 miles in total… it is one way to get extra exercise :p

September is National Century Month – 100 miles in 10 hours or less. Anybody can ride 10 mph.

Years ago (when in college) a planned short ride turned into a 40-mile ride from DC to Mount Vernon and back. I had real problems sitting on the hard classroom chairs the next day.

Uh oh. The humble-brag alarm just went off, big time.

I had a similar experience, in 8th grade I was running a 2.5 mile Turkey Trot, but the 7.5 mile runners were starting with us. Suffice to say, I missed a turn and found myself completing the longest run of my life up to that point.

My doctor advised me to ride 10 miles every day and check back with him in a week. So I called him the next week and said, “Doc, I’m 70 miles from home. Now what do I do?”

Poorly planning a 4 hour ride? Admittedly for me it’s usually more like a 3 hour ride turning into 4+ because of poor planning (I’m nowhere near as hard core as Fraz), but I certainly know how that works.

Planning four half-hour lunch stops is another way to expand a ride. I normally take the entire day to ride twenty or thirty miles.

Well congrats, I’ve seen about 5 people in total ever agree with your criticisms of Frazz, but it’s slightly irritating when the few of you that do dislike it can explain how Frazz is being a braggart, and lacking humility by saying “sure”. If you want to find like minded people, look for them on a comic strip you actually like, and can talk positively about.
