The commenters are obviously normal, kind human beings. What passes for YouTube comments these days are straight from Hell’s cesspool. That said, these observations are pretty spot-on.

But even if mentioned, would still apply in the same way as the negative comments: Once Tiffany sees the views, the rest become sort of… “invisible”…

What’s really sad, though, is that Tiff’s reaction is, actually, quite accurate in real life. Many would rather get “bad/negative” attention than “none at all.” At least it’s “attention” being paid to them."

In HS “Behavioral Psychology” class, we did the classic “sociogram.” Everyone was told to name three people in class with whom they want to associate, and then three with whom they absolutely did not want to associate. The class members that got the most “favorable” votes was labeled a “star.” The members that got the most “unfavorable votes” were labeled “rejects.” But the members that go no votes at all were the most unfortunate… they were labeled “isolates.” These were the students to which no one paid attention or even noticed. Of course, it was confidential so no student knew who or what they were, but….

I think that’s something to which Tiff can relate. Her parents treating her more like an “isolate” but the students like Lu and Bern treating her more like a “reject.” I guess only Ox treats her like a “star.”

Tiffany looks on the positive side of things. That’s a good habit to have, she will do well in life.

More than a year ago, I was taking a class in which we learned how to put together an issue of the university’s annual literary arts magazine. Well, one of our assignments was to make a video of any one work that was selected for publication and then post said video to YouTube. I and a couple of other classmates made ours (we filmed on location at the school AND at a Burger King), after which one of them edited and then uploaded to YouTube. The class is long over, but I still refuse to view the video because there surely are comments and I don’t want to read what people have said about me. I’ve been trolled online before and I don’t want to read about the possibly horrible comments people may make about me or my appearance.

Tiffany survives armored in fantasy. I think Mr. Evans IS going for the more humanized Tiffany, once he reveals more of her motives. I just hope she has a better story arc than a real life friend I once had, who interpreted everything as praise and admiration to get through a horrible childhood. She went mad.

I can’t believe that other search engine hasn’t fixed their glitch yet! I have to admit that the pacing of the Luann story lines sometimes (OK, often) gets annoying, but still… it’s more than a little annoying that someone would ruin a story’s roll-out like that and not even try to fix the error.

Who cares about the comments? If she’s monetizing the video, it doesn’t matter if the views come from people who like you or people who don’t.

This is why Tiffany will succeed. NOTHING keeps her down.

“Why does Luann always get a free pass, yet Tiffany gets crapped on?"^The scenario is just illustrating the “comic” (loose term) way that people on YouTube (in this kind of situation) can be so mean… Tiffany was just a good example of how to carry this out in that illustration most effectively, as she has both the “desire to be admired”, and the ability to turn “When I watch you , I am bothered!” into “I watch you!”…

Plus, look at how Bernice and Luann are reacting to Tiffany. They’re not “joining in”… they feel for her….

Sadly, these comments are TAME compared to the vitriol actual women get on these kinds of videos.

The thing is, this wouldn’t actually happen in real life. My sister watches handful’s of make-up videos, and I doubt anyone is mean enough to use that as leverage to type a nasty comment. If they didn’t like it, they’d just move on.

If you appreciate having Luann here at Gocomics.com, I don’t think you will want to sabotage it by sending its readers away to other sites that may simply be “cashing in” by ignoring the system (and the authors intentions) to gain views — for their financial profit.

There were those yesterday who said that Luann and Q should go to his room, and not use the prop-room. We saw the problem in that.

luannverse and real life are 2 different things first of all…………….. second, sometimes Lue has been very snarky with Tiff(Q was once, but it was more of a “come on!!!!!!!! take a hint, I am not interested in you, I tried to be as discreet as possible in the past but you either did not hear it or pretended you did not hear it so now I have to force you to acknowledge what I am saying” statement than about being intentionally mean) but it has to be about some things that makes it so………….. 1. whether is intentional or not is irrelevant, but Tiff comes across as vain, arrogant and that she sees herself as superior to others 2. Tiff is or was fearful of Lue as Lue has what Tiff does not have (quality friends, smarts if compared to tiff, actual talent specially compared to Tiff, relationship with dad and mom and other things) so in order for Lue not to become her equal in “high school status” she makes sure lue continues having lack of confidence in herself thus less likely to make “good looks her actual priority” (she just dreams about it while reading fashion magazines) as Lue’s beauty is equally comparable to Tiff’s and Tiff can’t have that. Every time some one brings up their name they are giving them more free publicity. I don’t.^There’s a difference between saying their names and actually recommending their programs, etc. Plus, how would you be able to “warn” someone (who has since lived under a rock), not to get “drawn in”? If you didn’t use their names to “properly identify” them, you’d be “setting that person up for failure”. – And I suggest you don’t turn to the TV listings channel, as their name will appear there. And I also suggest you don’t try out for Jeopardy, either. Also, don’t forget about shopping- their names are on something in one of the stores that our female family members, friends, etc. shop in… Lol, maybe even a grocery store or two… Or even the Rockets… you never know which one of them might turn up at their games, “suddenly attached” to one of the players. while the Sunday strips are out of sequence with the weekly arcs, it is clear from this week’s thread (and even today) that Luann has grown some while Tiffany remains the same (self obsessed fashion queen). When Tiffany was mocking and misinterpreting Luann’s comment about her ‘conflict’ (related to the job offer), Luann just bit her tongue and said nothing. Normally she might have contributed her own snarky comment. She grew further by realizing the greater importance of the summer teaching job offer over a week with Quill in NYC. As for Tiffany, following her brief excursion with Gunther she returned to her same self, i.e. incapable of perceiving that anyone would think negatively about her; some might say she is the eternal optimist and will thrive in the world as a result

is a hybrid situation, where BOTH SIDES have to take steps ………… the others(Lue, Delta, Bern, Gunther, etc) have to encourage the Issue(not her fault but nevertheless Tiff is basically the catalyst) to open up and become cordial, and Tiff has to become less snarky, and actually be nice AND at same time stop pretending(or actually believing) that everything is perfect for her and it would help a lot too if she stopped being brain lazy(I know she has the capability to learn a lot, like she does about decorating, how to influence people, the history of makeup in ancient Egypt, etc)

I like Tiffany. She is not very tactful, and is certainly self-focussed; but she is never so mean-spirited as her critics. In her own way she tries to be a good person, but is too often something of a bull in a china shop. In the case of YouTube trolling, she is taking the right approach in simply noting how many views her makeup tips have received. In fact, her makeup tips are probably useful; she does know grooming.

I would love for one of the characters (Luann to Tiffany, or Tiffany to Luann; it doesn’t matter which one) would turn to the other and say: “Grow up. We’re not in high school anymore.”

Gunther’s mom is dating someone and is not home all the time, hence the leftovers she left for Gunther. Things have changed. . . . "-————————————-We don’t know how much things have changed. And things like that are unpredictable enough to put a damper on things.

Quill and Tiff in Hollywood was IMO one of the first arcs to be dropped abruptly and left hanging. It had great promise to turn out very interesting, but . . . . . . . . .

if Tiff is a punching bag it’s only because we’ve made her into one. We do the punching not Evans. Tiffany is never made to be sad… angry sometimes but mostly quite happy (on the outside), because she doesn’t see (or choose to see) anything negative directed at her. She doesn’t feel our punches or those of the other characters.. that she herself punches.

I read the comments on both videos, and while some were indeed negative, or even racist, they are tame in comparison to what Tiff has received.-Why?-(1) Tiffany has less than 400 hundred views. The mere fact that she has any comments at all is astounding. Yes, a YouTube video with thousands of hits will attract trolls. But one with 350? Probably not.- (2) The commenters on Tiff’s video are insulting her on the basis of what must be either her appearance, or voice. In one of the video you linked, a negative comment revolved around how the speaker often ended their sentences with “yeah”. People comment on real grievances like this: delivery and presentation. Not their superficial judgments of some anonymous girl.

Some of them end up on shows like “Dancing With The Has Been Celebrities Stars”!

I was thinking, actually of a rather extreme case of this… the very sad story of actress Dana Plato, of “Different Strokes” fame. After the series ended, she tried several different things to get back into the public eye, including a Playboy spread, etc. She was also arrested for robbing a dry cleaners, or some such thing. Tragically, it wasn’t enough, and she ended up OD’ing on drugs and leaving a son behind.
