Judging by the sponsors he might be starting in the USA and hoping to find Europe.

If he’s showing the Nike logo, he’s probably starting at southeast Asian sweatshops crowded with children.

A few little tweaks to the tax code and that’s how America can get back to the moon … especially now that Obama has declared that there is nothing else to learn or find or do there.

I question getting Target for a sponsor. Suppose the natives are warlike, you give them a target to shoot for. Not smart.

There’s plenty to do there including getting to Mars.

Ah, we all love the space program now that the liberal president wants to save money on it. I wrote SF and a lot of stuff there was nice for the mind but never came close to true.

You want to make it worthwhile? The space program returned $8 for every $1 on the initial investments, especially in the areas of miniaturization, when the government first funded it and the military had nothing to do with it other than providing the ‘Nauts. The first year it lost money was when they started using military contractors and it became part of the Def. Dept. Bring back the nerd management and the guys with the dream of space and you stand a chance to make it worthwhile.

Actually, this strip tells the awful truth: the New World was conquered commercially by the Old World and not the other way around.

(Just kidding, of course. Sorta. Ah, for the days of Spanish conquistadors and English mercantile companies…)

Pardon me for sounding a bit acerbic and political (I mean to be neither), but for a POTUS who seems to fall into the Inspirer mold and tries to shape people’s vision, Pres. Obama’s decision about the space program is as counterintuitive as one could possibly imagine. Mind-numbingly stupid, in fact. Other nations and other government agencies plus private companies abroad are filling the vacuum we’re leaving (no pun intended) and humanly speaking we can’t afford to let that happen.

Gee, you really think a company trying to make money could do better than bureaucrats? Don’t you understand that Washington knows best? If space is ever to be conquered, it must be for political, not economic or humanitarian purposes. We gots to beat dem Rooskies..

Or on the other hand , we could sit here and deplete Earth by ignoring the other 99.9999—- percent of creation..

Concerning the space program and what Pres. Obama is or isn’t doing about it. I have always been a fan of space exploration, ever since John Glenn’s orbital flight when I was a kid. I am also a political conservative, but an independent, not beholden to either major party, nor to any other. So take what I have to say in this light. I think it is past time that the space program was removed from the federal budget and put into the private sector. Yes, some good things have come out of the space program that have benefited everyone. But if that continues to be true, why should it not be a direct benefit of investment in the program and not a side affect of a government program?

Obama is afraid we’d send him to the moon. That’s not true. We’ll send him a lot farther than the moon! The moon’s too close.
